Introduction to Consumer Law

A one-day introduction to consumer law, comprising 6 modules delivered on-line through Zoom.

In the course we focus on:

  • Consumer law and the origin of the rights and duties of the parties, including contract formation;
  • Consumer Rights Act 2015 and how it applies to consumer contracts for goods & services;
  • Delivery – some common issues encountered with and practical examples from the Ombudsman’s case book;
  • Off Premises contracts and distance sales and how these are viewed in the consumer protection landscape;
  • Common Complaints and case studies from the furniture & home improvement sectors;
  • Compensation and the approach of the Ombudsman and the courts to awards.

Delivery

The course will be delivered over one day including video content with interactive elements facilitated on-line. Delegates will require access to Zoom.

There is a validation at the end of the day and successful delegates will receive a City & Guilds accreditation.

Judith Turner

Judith read Law at King’s College London for 3 years before graduating with honours in 1998. She then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and a training contract before qualifying as a solicitor in 2001.
